Training Your AI
The AI Sales Agent is only as good as the data you give it. This guide walks you through how to maximize your AI's effectiveness by enriching its knowledge base.
Step 1: Import Your Products
The fastest way to train your AI is to connect your WooCommerce store:
- Follow the Connect WooCommerce guide
- Trigger a Sync Now to import all products
- Wait for the import to complete (you'll see products in your Knowledge Base)
After import, the AI can immediately answer questions about your products — prices, availability, descriptions, and more.
Step 2: Add Custom Knowledge
Products aren't the only thing your AI can know about. Add custom knowledge entries for:
| Knowledge Type | Example |
|---|---|
| Shipping policies | "We ship within 2-3 business days. Free shipping over $50." |
| Return policies | "Returns accepted within 30 days with original packaging." |
| Store hours | "Our physical store is open Mon-Sat, 9 AM to 6 PM." |
| FAQs | "Yes, we offer gift wrapping for $5 per item." |
| Seasonal promotions | "Winter Sale: 20% off all boots until March 1st." |
How to Add Custom Knowledge
- Go to Knowledge Base in your dashboard
- Click Add Entry
- Give it a clear title (e.g., "Shipping Policy")
- Write the content in plain text or Markdown
- Click Save
tip
Write naturally. The AI understands natural language, so write your knowledge entries the way you'd explain it to a customer. No special formatting needed.
Step 3: Test Your AI
After adding knowledge, test the AI to make sure it responds correctly:
Method 1: Instagram DM
- Open Instagram on your phone (use a different account than your business account)
- Send a DM to your business: "What's your shipping policy?"
- The AI should respond using your custom knowledge entry
Method 2: Web Widget
- Open your website where the widget is installed
- Click the chat bubble
- Ask a question about your products or policies
- Verify the AI's response
Tips for Better AI Responses
✅ Do
- Be specific — "Nike Air Max 270, Black/White, sizes 7-13, $150" is better than "We have Nike shoes"
- Include prices — The AI never invents prices, so make sure they're in your data
- Add alternatives — If a product has common nicknames, include them
- Update regularly — Remove discontinued products, update seasonal promotions
❌ Don't
- Don't add contradictory information — If two entries have different prices for the same product, the AI may get confused
- Don't leave stale data — Old promotions or discontinued products lead to bad customer experiences
- Don't be overly technical — Write for customers, not engineers
How the AI Prioritizes Knowledge
When a customer asks a question, the AI:
- Searches your product catalog for relevant products
- Searches custom knowledge for policies, FAQs, etc.
- Combines the results to craft a natural response
- If nothing relevant is found, it responds honestly: "I'm not sure about that. Let me check with my team!" (and escalates)
