Connect Instagram

Connect your Instagram Business account to Maxina AI so the AI Sales Agent can respond to your Direct Messages automatically.


Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • ✅ An Instagram Business or Creator account (not a personal account)
  • ✅ A Facebook Page connected to your Instagram account
  • Admin access to the Facebook Page

Instagram DM automation requires a Facebook Page linked to your Instagram account. This is a Meta platform requirement, not a Maxina limitation.


Step 1: Set Up Meta Business Suite

  1. Go to business.facebook.com
  2. Navigate to your Business Settings
  3. Ensure your Instagram account is connected to your Facebook Page

Step 2: Connect Instagram in Maxina

  1. In your Maxina dashboard, go to Settings → Channels
  2. Click Connect Instagram
  3. You'll be redirected to Meta to authorize the connection
  4. Grant the required permissions:
    • Read and manage messages
    • Read page profile
  5. After authorization, you'll be redirected back to Maxina

Step 3: Test the Connection

Send a test message to your Instagram business account from a different account:

  1. Open Instagram on your phone or browser
  2. Send a DM to your business account: "Hi, do you have any new arrivals?"
  3. Within a few seconds, the AI should respond!

Check your Maxina Inbox — the conversation should appear as a new ticket.

tip

If you've already connected WooCommerce and synced products, the AI will recommend real products from your catalog. If not, it will still chat helpfully but won't have product data to reference.

Troubleshooting

AI doesn't respond to my test message
  1. Make sure you're sending from a different Instagram account (not the business account itself — echo messages are filtered)
  2. Check that the Instagram channel shows Connected in Settings → Channels
  3. Verify the ticket appeared in your Maxina Inbox
"Insufficient permissions" error during connection

Ensure you granted all the requested permissions during the Meta authorization step. You can revoke and reconnect from Settings → Channels.
